I know that I can sing and praise the Lord all I want at home and that is good. Then I truly am singing from the heart and making a joyful noise!
I can't play an instrument of any kind. I have always wanted to learn, but I guess I haven't wanted to badly enough, because I have never made much of an effort to learn to play any instrument. I think it is because I am so impatient. I want to play the piano, but I don't want to take the time to learn, I just want to play! Same with the fiddle, not enough patience.
My Grandpa Richardson could play some on several different instruments. One of my mom's regrets was that none of his five children learned to play anything from him. Now my kids and some of the grandkids can all play different instruments to different degrees, due to band at school, and Alicia and her family have learned to play the guitar, banjo, bass fiddle, and mandolin to play a little bluegrass. I love it.
One of my presents this past Christmas was a book and DVD called Watch & Learn for Keyboard. To quickly learn to play scales, chords, and read music. For beginners. Which I definitely am. I have looked through the book some, and still need to watch the DVD. Alicia has heard me say for years that I want to play the piano, so this is what she got me for Christmas. I hope I can pick up something, but I am a realist (David always says so!) and I think I may be too much of an old dog to be learning new tricks. Still, I will try.
