This morning I made my bed, did four loads of laundry throughout the morning, washed dishes , vacuumed, mopped the kitchen floor, washed my living room windows inside and out, drank six cups of coffee, checked out facebook, played a game or two on the computer, and last but not least, talked on the phone with a few different people.
Finally, at 12:30 I headed outside to dig in the dirt and have some fun.
I finally got the whole bed of iris by the driveway dug up, sorted out as best I could and replanted them in 5 different locations. I started that a week ago and finished up yesterday.
I hope I got the colors sorted out right, but they overlapped where they had multiplied, so I am almost positive there will be stray ones in each bed that don't match the others. It will be easy to pull them up and put them where they belong when they bloom.
There should be pale yellow with white, bright yellow, light purple, dark purple, and maroon. Last summer when they were bloomed, I put a length of weed-eater line between the different colors, but they were already overlapping some, so it's just a guess if I got it in the right place. Then to complicate it further, I mowed a little too close to the iris bed and sucked some of the weed-eater line out of the bed. OH WELL.
Today I started digging up some iris that were growing around the well house. Some had grown and multiplied so much that there were iris rhizomes growing up under the siding on the well house. Peach, more purple, some two toned, I don't even know what. I have pictures of all of them, somewhere on the computer or a storage CD. Somewhere on one of 27 CDs, with around 500-600 pictures on each one. I didn't search, they will be pretty even if the colors are mixed. I left a few of them where they were because they were hard to dig up and I was tired.
I put the iris from around the well house in the flower bed right in front of the house. Just for my information. I extended the flowerbed out farther, close to the phone pedestal. I dug up the soil, filled it in with soil I scavenged from other parts of the yard then put rocks around it.
I planted the iris in the middle, around the old stump. I moved one small peony bush that was growing on the other side of the bed and put it close to the phone pedestal. I put another teeny tiny peony bush out front. I found some daffodil bulbs that I had dug up back in the spring and kinda forgot about and planted them near the peonies that I planted. I think they are the daffodils with the light yellow six petals and darker middle. I hope they are anyway. I think they are the ones I dug up out by the driveway where we had a pile of mulch.
I also snipped a handful of sedum from the plant at the back of the house and threw it in the flowerbed and scattered a little dirt on top of it. Not much. It doesn't need to be covered much, just throw it down and usually it will grow.
I did all that and then when Courtney and Kassidi came home from school I had to drive Kassidi to work. Courtney and Jessi stayed the night with us because Lynn had to work overnight tonight, or most of the night, putting up banners for Veteran's Day.
Needless to say, I am tired. And here I sit. I feel almost too tired to sleep. Took 4 aspirin, so when it all kicks in I will sleep a few hours.
Night.
