I had taken the post titled "Journey of my quilt" off my other blog and just stored it away. Now I have decided to put it back up on this blog. That is why it has a date of Jan. 17 and another date on the post of Jan. of 2011.
As I stated on that blog post, I have never quilted before, so I don't know the "right" way to do things, I am just flying by the seat of my pants. That is OK with me.
I have indeed finished my quilt top. It is beautiful, maybe just to me. I liked doing it. It is just squares, large squares, in greens, green prints, pink rose prints, and some tan squares. It may not have perfectly straight seams and ooops, I pressed my seams open flat, then saw on a quilting show that I should have pressed them all the same way. Oh well, a good friend that quilts all the time said she has taken classes and one person will tell you to do it one way and another person another way. So is life, eh? Thanks for making me feel better about it, friend.
I don't have quilting frames and can't afford to buy any and don't know if I could have used them anyway, but I want to do it myself, so I am going to take another friend's advice, and do it without a frame. Maybe a disaster waiting to happen, we will see.
I have the top finished. I have the batting for the middle layer. I need to decide what to use for the backing, I am thinking I might use muslin. I don't know if that is too heavy, maybe just some cotton material.
This quilt is going to serve as my bedspread if I ever get it done. Pictures later.
